Privacy Policy
Effective July 12, 2026
This policy explains how Quran: A Monotheist Translation handles information when you use the app, including its optional Community text and live-voice features.
1. Information We Collect
Account information
The reading features do not require an account. If you join the Community, we process your sign-in provider, email address where provided, Firebase user ID, display name, avatar colour, optional profile photo, and confirmation that you meet the Community age requirement.
Community content
We store messages you post, reports you submit, your blocked-user list, and moderation records such as mutes or bans. Public messages display your chosen name and avatar. Reports are visible only to authorised administrators.
Voice and technical data
Live voice is transmitted in real time through LiveKit. We do not record or store room audio. Short-lived room presence, connection information, push notification tokens, device and server logs, and IP addresses may be processed to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to authenticate accounts, provide reading and Community features, deliver requested notifications, maintain room connectivity, prevent fraud and abuse, respond to reports, enforce the Community Guidelines, provide support, and improve reliability.
3. Service Providers and Disclosure
We use Apple and Google for sign-in, Google Firebase for authentication, databases, file storage, and notifications, LiveKit for real-time voice, and hosting infrastructure including Railway and DigitalOcean. These providers process information to deliver their services under their privacy and security terms.
We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users and the service, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or transfer of the service. We do not sell personal information or use Community information for cross-app tracking or targeted advertising.
4. Security and Retention
We use access controls and industry-standard safeguards, but no online service can guarantee absolute security. Profiles and messages remain while an account is active unless removed earlier. Reports remain until administrators resolve them. Temporary presence and voice-session records expire or are cleared when sessions end.
5. Your Choices and Account Deletion
You can update your profile, notification preferences, and blocked-user list in the app. Settings includes Delete Account. Deletion permanently removes your authentication account, profile, avatar, Community messages, reports, moderation records, presence, and notification registration, except information we must retain to comply with law.
6. Children's Privacy
The Quran reading features remain available without a Community account. Community text and voice features are intended only for people aged 13 or older. We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create Community profiles. Contact us if you believe a child supplied personal information so we can remove it.
7. Changes and Contact
We may update this policy and will publish the revised effective date here. Privacy, safety, account-deletion, and moderation questions can be sent through our contact page or to [email protected].
Terms and Conditions
1. Acceptance and Eligibility
By using the app, you agree to these Terms. The Quran reading features may be used without joining the Community. You must be at least 13 years old to create a Community profile or use Community text and voice features.
2. Acceptable Use
You may not harass or threaten others; post hateful, sexual, violent, illegal, spam, infringing, or deceptive content; impersonate another person; evade moderation; disrupt voice rooms; or attempt unauthorised access. You must follow the Community Guidelines.
3. Intellectual Property
App content, including text, translations, branding, and images, is owned by or licensed to The Monotheist Group. The app grants a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence for personal, non-commercial use.
4. User Content and Moderation
You are responsible for content you submit and grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to display and operate that content within the service. We may filter or reject content, investigate reports, remove messages, mute or ban accounts, and cooperate with lawful requests. Users can report messages or voice-room participants and block abusive members.
5. Third-Party Services
The app uses third-party sign-in, hosting, notification, storage, and real-time communication services. Their own terms and policies also apply to their processing.
6. Disclaimer and Termination
The app is provided “as is” to the fullest extent permitted by law. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms or the Community Guidelines.
7. Changes and Governing Law
We may update these Terms and publish the revised effective date. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
