Peace all,
I have investigated/researched some crazy and absurd conspiracy theories out there such as the flat earth theory, the hollow earth theory, the UFO conspiracy theory, the moon landing conspiracy theory, the transhumanist agenda, the transgender agenda, the neoliberal conspiracy theory, conspiracy to grow the global economy indefinitely, conspiracy to plunder the global south for the benefit of the global north and 911 conspiracy theories. But the most crazy and absurd conspiracy theory I have investigated/researched so far is a conspiracy theory about how the west created radical Islam. There is no doubt that all of the aforesaid conspiracy theories are crazy and absurd. But the conspiracy theory about how the west created radical Islam, is the craziest of all of them. Also, I don't think it's prudent to focus on (dwell on) the aforesaid conspiracy theories more than necessary. Nevertheless, I think it's important to know about them (through investigation/research) in order to be able to refute/dismantle (debunk) their claims. One have to be willing to grapple with falsehood in order to find the truth. Right?
I want to show you how easily one can dismantle/refute (debunk) a conspiracy theory. To give you an example, the conspiracy theory concerning the plunder of the global south for the benefit of the global north, can easily be dismantled/refuted (debunked). If the aforementioned conspiracy theory was true, then the global north wouldn't have given gigantic amounts of economic aid to the global south in the present and in the past. This shows that the aforementioned conspiracy theory is fictious. Speaking of the crazy and absurd conspiracy theory about radical Islam, I have found and read several articles online that suggest that The Muslim brotherhood, Wahabism, Taliban and the Islamic republic of Iran are creations of the west. I will share more information about these things and other things in this post. The information in this post is derived from several articles that I have found online.
A crazy and absurd conspiracy theory about radical Islam:
- The Muslim brotherhood is a western creation, and was officially founded in Egypt in 1929, by Hasan al-Banna, a puppet for the British and a freemason.
- Jamaat-i-islam in Pakistan, Darul islam in Indonesia and the Muslim brotherhood have covertly and overtly been supported by the west and left their ideological imprint of fundamentalist islam on several muslim countries in the east.
- Taliban was created by the west and pioneered by Zbigniew Brzezinski in order to fight and defeat communism in Afghanistan.
- Throughout history the west have been opposed to nationalist muslims and the moderate middle classes in muslim countries.
- Throghout history the west has advocated the Muslim brotherhood brand of islam rather than the traditional moderate islam that was practised by Al-Azhar, the oldest university in the Islamic world,
- In the early 1920s, Britain supported the Arab tribes of the Hijaz to help establish Saudi Arabia.
- Before the Wahabbis established themselves in Riyadh in 1901, they were an isolated cult in Kuwait. With the support of the west, they expanded to the western part of the Arabian Peninsula in 1924 and 1925.
- Saudi Arabia, seeking to position itself as the leader of the islamic world, has spent an estimated 50 billion dollars in promotoing its fundamentalist brand of Wahhabism around the world, in what one western think-tank has described as the largest worldwide propaganda campaign ever made.
- Western countries asked Saudi Arabia to help to counter Russia during the cold war. They induced Saudi Arabia to invest in mosques and madrasas overseas, in order to prevent Russia from making inroads into muslim countries.
- Ayatollah Kashani, an iranian politician and Shia marja, was actively supported by Britain, and his hard-line protesters organized large-scale protests that preceded the 1953 coup against Iran's prime minister Mossadegh.
- The coup in 1953 installed the pro-western Shah. Some years later Ayatollah Kashani went on to mentor Khomeini, and some years later Khomeini overthrew the Shah and installed a theocracy in Iran.
- Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (the Shah) was becoming popular in Iran due to making his country independent and powerful through his nationalist policies.
- The Shah allowed women the right to vote and brought and end to the wearing of the veil.
- The Shah bought land from the upper classes and sold it back to tenant farmers. More than 1.5 million people became land owners due to his policy.
- The Shah developed plans for a 90 billion dollar nuclear power program.
- The Shah began to close the opium industry, which was created by the west.
- The Shah had become too much of a nationalist, like Gamal Abdel Nasser. He stopped following instructions on oil. The oil companies helped to oust the shah.
- Khomeini was not an Iranian and he was not born in Iran. His father's name was William Richard Williamson and he was born in Bristol, England in 1872.
- Khomeini's mother was a Kashmiri Indian.
- Khomeini's father (William Richard Williamson) took holidays in Kashmir and married at least 7 times to arab and indian women. His sons attended religious schools.
- One of William Richard Williamson's sons went to the Iranian holy city of Qom and took the name Khomeini.
- Ayatollah Shariatmadari and Ayatollah Golpayegani gave Khomeini the title of Ayatollah in 1964.
- Ayatollah Shariatmadari was higher in the religious hierarchy than Khomeini.
- In Iran, the British were exploiting the oilfields. Williamson joined British Petroleum as a political officer. He called himself Haji Abdollah Fazl Zobeiri.
- Khomeini was flown from France to Iran, with the help of the west.
- In the aircraft, when Khomeini was flying back from France to Tehran in early 1979, a journalist asked him: What do you feel about returning to Iran? He replied: Nothing! The question was repeated to him, and again he replied: Nothing!
- Ayatollah Shariatmadari was placed under house arrest in 1979.
- Some linguists, who studied khomeini's public speeches in 1979 and 1980, claimed that his persian (farsi) vocabulary was less than 200 words. Therefore, they concluded that he did not speak the iranian language well.
- In the 1940s the Iranian branch of the muslim brotherhood known as Fedayeen-e Islam, had been established. The students who took over the American embassy in Tehran after the overthrow of the Shah, were members of the Fedayeen-e Islam, and they took scores of American hostages.
- The Reagan administration had ties with Ayatollah Khomeini, as shown by the Iran Contra affair.
- Muhammad Abdul Wahab was a british puppet and reinterpreted islam to put Arabia in opposition to the Ottoman rule and destroy it.
- Jamal al-Din al-Afghani, Mohammed Abduh, Mohammad Rashid Rida, Sayed Qutb, Ali Shariati and his father were freemasons.
- In Pakistan the Jamaat-e Islami supported the ousting of Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto by General Zia ul-Haq. Bhutto was disliked by the British for withdrawing Pakistan from the British Commonwealth, for carrying out nationalistic policies, for supporting the Soviets and for wanting to develop nuclear energy.
- After General Nasser cracked down on the Muslim Brotherhood in 1955 in Egypt, the organization moved its base of operations to London and Geneva.
The conspiracy theory about how the west created radical islam, which is derived from several articles online, conists of information that is made by people who are jealous of the progress of the west. Instead of taking responsibility for their failures in modernising and developing their countries, a lot of muslims unfortunately blame the west for the failures of muslim countries in the east. The west is a beacon of light and has contributed to democracy, freedom of speech, freedom of religion and human rights around the world. The west has also given billions of dollars in aid to muslim countries. Therefore, the aforementioned conspiracy theory is crazy, absurd and fictious. But I think it's crucial to know about it in order to dismantle/refute (debunk) it.
I'm not suggesting that the policies of some western countries towards the east or muslim countries has never been harmful. It's a fact that western colonolialism have had negative effects on some muslim countries and the east in general in the past.
But I think it's crucial to seperate fact from fiction (namely a crazy and absurd conspiracy theory about radical islam. It's an unquestionable that radical islam was created by muslims living in the east, not by the west. It was muslims in the east which made numerous fake hadith which lead to many communities becoming backward, superstitious and unscientific. Those Hadith were not created by people living in the western part of the world, but was created by people living in the east. Note that I'm not suggesting that all hadith are fake. But there are some that are fake.
Fortunately, a lot of conspiracy theories have been dismantled/refuted (debunked) by profound thinkers such as James Randi, Michael Shermer, Robert Todd Carrol and Carl Sagan. However, when it comes to the conspiracy theory about radical islam, most of it have unfortunately not been debunked yet. As a skeptic, I can't dismantle/refute (debunk) all of it. Because my time is limited. But I hope all of it will be dismantled/refuted (debunked) in the future.
By the way, if you are interested in learning about skepticisim, I strongly recommend reading the book "The Skeptics dictionary" by Robert Todd Carrol and the book "Why people believe in weird things" by Michael Shermer. The aforementioned books dismantle/refute (debunk) a lot of conspiracy theories.
