I have phobia for dogs!  I see a dog, I bolt!

dog's ancestors wolves are chase predators, they chase a herd of animals and then home in on the weakest/slowest one, don't run when you see a dog just be calm
Listen, and understand! That Terminator is out there! It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

Myself I have dreaded dogs many, many years. I do not know how I overcame that, I suppose I saw that since no one had eaten me yet I should not be so attractive to them, even without hijab. So little by little now, I think I would face one of the biggest and make it  back out just seeing how I command the situation and that my bite is ferocious :D :D :D :D :D.

running from them triggers their hunting instincts

Salaam.

Just curious.

I have been interested in Siberian Husky.

Dog is not prohibited by God in the Qur'an. The Father of Kittens prohibited them.

I am still living with my parents under their guidance. They are sunnis and believe that dog is haram.

By the way I hope I could have dogs when I don't live with parents anymore.

I'm getting an Akita, God willing, soon.  I love Akitas.  They are similar to Huskies, but better.  :rotfl:

Salaam,
Your circumstance is exactly the same as me. I can not have dog either as long as I am living with my family.
I am very scared of dogs though. There was one dog who tried to bite me during my childhood, and since them I am very scared of them. However, I really want to have once because I heard they are very loving and loyal lol. If I can take care of them, I will have one when I am living separately.

Personally, i don't like pets. Be it pigeon, parrot, cat or dog. Besides, i find dogs dirty.

Salaam,
I am also tired of conservative Muslims degrading dogs. Even though I don't believe that keeping dogs is forbidden, I probably would not keep a pet dog from now on because I have no commitment on taking care of animals.I have a fear of dogs since the day I was chased by a dog (thank God I was not bitten).Stray dogs are common in the place where I live, so my fear increases when I see them.Maybe one day in the future I might have a loyal dog who will protects me and decrease my fear. It is a lovely idea to have a nice animal buddy.

Harmony be upon you,

Unless traditional interpretation is wrong; tamed dogs are present in the book called Quran because I suppose only a tamed dog would pant unconditionally if it was part of a flock including humans. And the "seven sleepers" had a dog in their group.

And dogs are mentioned as hunting companions and are really good utility pets, helping blind people etc and they are also quite faithful and like the allegory says they pant unconditionally as long as they feel as part of the flock, i.e. very loyal and obedient.

Only religious dogma has caused them to become disgusted animals while the dog is only as dirty as its master keeps it. It is an animal, but it has shown much practical use through the lapse of time for various tasks:as blood hounds, drug sniffers and like I said they are loyal although with animal intellect of course even if dogs seem to be able to perform fairly advanced tricks and understand human expressions.

I love dogs.  Their loyalty knows no boundaries.  I used to have a border collie, trained for herding sheep.  He was not only extremely loyal but also intelligent.  Able to understand over 100 words.

I miss that dog.  :'(

Peace

I don't recommend pets!  They're basically really awesome, cool, fun, good looking muslims who are very likely to die in a relatively short period of time.  Why invest in heartbreak?  I don't believe it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.  How about a giant tortoise?  That little sucker will probably have to mourn you instead!  You win.
